Hi, I’m Rachel and I’m the founder and voice behind They Had Fun. I’ve lived in New York City for almost 17 years and outside of a dream summer house in Greece(🤞🏻), I’m not leavin.

I started this company because I’m obsessed with this city and love to share its magic with everybody. I’ve always been the friend people turned to ask where to go for a great martini on the Upper East Side, or which new gallery has an exhibit worth checking out in Chelsea, or where to find the cheapest but most delicious Thai food in Queens.

I was also a professional family manager (a very New York job) for a decade before deciding to make They Had Fun a reality. My background in that extremely specific industry perfectly set me up to be the type-A planner you need!

I love exploring every inch of the city (I walk Manhattan top to bottom, all 13.3 miles, yearly) and religiously read everything from the New York Times to tiny city newsletters to find the best New York has to offer.

I do this because I love helping people make lifelong memories, both big and small. I planned my own NYC wedding weekend for my family, complete with dancing at Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center, a Macy's 4th of July fireworks viewing party on a rooftop with catered, local Italian food, and a Brooklyn after-party with dancing until 4:30 in the morning.

But having fun in New York isn’t just about late-night dancing and big events, fun can be anything from seeing “Showtime!” on the subway to talking to a friendly local bodega owner about the history of his neighborhood. These are the “only in New York” moments that make the city so special.

I can’t wait to help you experience the city in a new way, even if you’ve lived here forever, are planning a trip and visiting for the first time, or just tuning into our New York City-obsessed podcast. Nothing makes me happier than helping people experience New York so they can have as much fun as possible!
